Natal Day festivities on Macdonald Bridge not taking place in 2019

Two lanes on the MacKay Bridge will be closed each weekend beginning mid-July until September to conduct several construction projects. For more details please see here.

Because of this Halifax Harbour Bridges regrets to inform the public that Natal Day festivities on the bridge are cancelled for 2019. These events include: MACPASS Miles and Bridgewalk. The Natal Day parade is also unable to cross the Macdonald Bridge. The parade will begin and end in Dartmouth.

These community events require the Macdonald Bridge to be closed for several hours. “We understand the disappointment for the many people who enjoy the opportunity to run or walk across the road deck of the bridge,” explains Steve Snider, general manager and CEO for HHB. “However, by closing the Macdonald Bridge at the same time as lane reductions on the MacKay we would be at risk of not fulfilling our mission of providing safe, efficient and reliable cross-harbour transportation.”
