Approach span bearings

Another approach span bearing on the Macdonald Bridge will require a partial weekend closure the end of July or in early August. The date is still to be confirmed.

The closures are required to replace bearings on two of the bridge piers of the Macdonald Bridge, located on the approach span of the bridge in Dartmouth. HHB began a process of replacing the bearings in 2015. The bearings, original to when the bridge opened in 1955, were identified as needing to be replaced based on condition and performance.
