Ramp to Robie/Windsor/Bedford closed on MacKay Bridge December 7 and December 8
Traffic Advisory: Beginning 6:30am Saturday, December 7 until 7:00pm Sunday, December 8 there will be one lane open to Halifax on the MacKay Bridge and the exit to Robie/Windsor and the Bedford Highway will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to the Barrington Street Ramp. Two lanes will be open Dartmouth bound. All three lanes on the Macdonald Bridge will be open.
The closure is needed to replace the seals on both sides of the expansion joint on the Robie/Windsor Street overpass on the Halifax side of the MacKay Bridge. This work is highly weather dependent and will be rescheduled if needed. The weather has to be cold enough for the expansion joint to contract to allow room to remove the old seal and replace it with a new seal yet warm enough for the epoxy to adhere to the new seal.
HHB apologies for the inconvenience this closures will cause.
Check your route before heading out! Webcams added to bridge approaches
Halifax Harbour Bridges is pleased to introduce webcams to the approach spans of the bridges as another tool to learn more about the traffic on the bridges.
The webcams are on the approach spans of the bridge to show the back-ups that exist to get on the bridges. The webcams are refreshed every 10 seconds and are not clear enough to identify vehicles or people.
You can access the cameras on the main page of hdbc.ca. In early December you will also be able to access the cameras from the HHB app. The HHB app is available for Android and IOS operating systems.
